Earn while you learn to be an Emergency Medical Technician
American Medical Response is offering a unique opportunity for individuals interested in a rewarding career in pre-hospital medicine. We want to hire highly motivated and driven individuals who would like to earn their Emergency Medical Technician certification.
What is an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)?
The primary focus of the EMT is to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for sick and injured patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation, and functions under medical oversight.
About the Program:
The eligible candidate will be hired as a full-time employee and trained as Driver Lead while in attendance at the EMT Academy. The Academy is a rigorous, college-level program which qualifies the employee to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exam. There is no cost for the class and all books, tuition, fees, and uniforms will be paid by AMR. Employees will be paid their hourly rate to attend all classes and clinical rotations/ride longs.

What happens after passing the course?
After successful completion of the course, the employee will be eligible to take a written and skills test offered by the NREMT and will be required to work full time for AMR for a period of at least two years.
Upon receipt of the EMT certification and successful completion of the perception process, the employee will be promoted to the EMT level, be assigned their full-time shift, and receive their updated pay rate.
