Lifeguard Ambulance Service in Alabama is offering a unique opportunity for individuals interested in a rewarding career in pre-hospital medicine to earn a paycheck while attending class to become and EMT, with a full-time position after.

 

What is an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)?

The primary focus of the EMT is to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for emergent and non-emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation, and functions as part of a comprehensive EMS response under medical oversight. An EMT performs interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance and is a link from the scene to the health care system.

 

About the Program:

The Academy is a rigorous 13-week program which qualifies the employee(s) to take the National Registry of EMT exam which then allows the employee to apply for a AL state EMT-B license. There is no cost for the class and all books, tuition, fees and uniforms will be paid for on behalf of the student.  Upon successful completion of the class, all tests and state licensure, the employee will be transferred to a Full-Time EMT position with an increase to the EMT compensation rate. 

 

Qulifications:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have proof of a High School diploma or GED.
  • Have the ability to meet all health standards of the education program enrollment, including immunization status and health screenings.
  • Successfully complete the pre-employment screening, which includes motor vehicle and criminal background checks, drug testing, academic/cognitive screening, and a physical agility test.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license.

What happens after passing the course?

After successful completion of the course, the employee will be eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exam. Once certified by the NREMT, the employee will then submit the required documentation to the state to obtain their Alabama EMT license.

 

Upon receipt of the state EMT license, employees will choose their full-time shift and complete new employee training. They will also qualify for benefits including:
