The Supervisor Operations is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations which may include staffing, scheduling, monitoring the CAD and working with the dispatch team to strive for most effective use of operation’s resources, ensuring maintenance of all equipment and supplies, internal communications, budgetary considerations, outside agency interface, and community relations.



  • Support, direct, and develop field staff to provide the highest possible level of patient care.
  • Demonstrate and practice servant leadership in all aspects of the position.
  • Maintain quality field operations through daily contact, oversight, communication, and evaluation.
  • Recognize and provide positive praise to employees regularly, for meeting expectations of operation, demonstrating initiative, problem solving or receiving praise from co-workers or customers.
  • Act as a liaison between the company and its customers/patients, public safety agencies, training institutions, hospital representatives, and other applicable personnel.
  • Mentor employees, conduct performance evaluations, provide disciplinary actions to assigned personnel as directed, and facilitate individual and team development to drive positive results.
  • Work with other members of the Management and Supervisory team to minimize problems, correct staffing, and scheduling issues, and continuously improve service.
  • Participate in the development, formulation, modification, and implementation of department policies, standards, regulations, and general operating guidelines and procedures associated with EMS delivery.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels for field units, manage shift calendars, and facilitate shift bids.
  • Cover open shifts with appropriate employee assignments or by personally filling in as needed.
  • Supervise the effective operation, utilization, and maintenance of medical apparatus and equipment.
  • Develop specifications for ordering and placing equipment in service.
  • Review Patient Care Reports (PCRs) and other field paperwork for accuracy, ensuring that it is reconciled on a daily basis.
  • Work with the operation’s CES to schedule and conduct regular QI/QA sessions to review PCRs from within the operation, with engagement from the Medical Director.
  • Conduct thorough, Just Culture directed, investigations into incidents and complaints involving assigned units or personnel and resolve in the best manner possible.
  • Prepare reports and manage projects as assigned by the Operations or General Manager.
  • Perform daily spot checks of provider’s equipment and trucks to ensure compliance with expectations of operation and regulatory agencies. Track and report those checks daily.
  • Assure that all necessary payroll is properly completed and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Assist with and engage in the recruitment and training of new employees.
  • Maintain employee training records and track employee certifications/accreditations for compliance.
  • Champion affirmative action efforts in all aspects of employment, including but not limited to staffing, training, and promotion.
  • Comply with and enforce all applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.




  • Minimum 1 year of EMS field experience.
  • Prior FTO or other leadership/supervisory experience preferred.


  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
  • Some advanced education preferred.


  • Ability to function as an EMT/Paramedic and perform direct patient-care activities in the field with a high level of proficiency.
  • Thorough knowledge of equipment and supplies used in inter-facility transports and patient care.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Strong listening and comprehension skills.
  • Ability to adapt to quickly evolving situations.
  • Attention to detail and strong technical skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of System Status management.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to successfully pass a Physical Agility Test.


  • National and applicable state EMT/Paramedic Certifications/Licensures.
  • State Driver’s License with driving record in compliance with GMR’s Safety & Driving policy (proof required if conditional employment is made).
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP, BTLS/PHTLS Certifications as required and appropriate for certification level.





Working Conditions:

  • Frequently works in an office setting or out in the field.
  • Works alone and with others utilizing phone, email, and face-to-face communication.
  • Occasionally works extended shifts.
  • Able to work a rotating shift schedule, switching between off the truck and on the truck on a quarterly basis and move from day shift to night shift on a quarterly rotation.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift, drag, hoist, and carry different types of equipment and other objects.
  • Frequently required to sit, talk or hear, stand, walk, use hands to handle or operate objects/tools/controls, reach/pull with hands and arms, and drive an ambulance.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, and smell.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 200 pounds with the assistance of a partner.

  • Analyzation, perception, computation, pro-active problem-solving, judgment, reasoning, and decision-making.
